Company History

Springhill Medical Center can trace its roots back to the Springhill Community Hospital, located on 1st street NE in Springhill. The Springhill Community Hospital began in 1959 and continued serving Springhill until it was relocated to its current location at 2001 Doctors Drive in 1975 when Humana, Inc. built the current facility. Throughout the years, the hospital has been owned by several different for-profit hospital companies, which included, Humana, Columbia/HCA, and LifePoint. In 2000 the hospital became a standalone not-for-profit hospital governed by a local board. In 2008 SMC partnered with Willis Knighton Health Systems in Shreveport.
